VOCAL MINDFULNESS. DYNAMIC TRADITION.
The Voces Auream Chamber Choir is an initiative of Choral Conductor and Bass/Baritone Leon Griesbach based in Lisbon Falls, Maine focusing on Gregorian Chant and Renaissance Polyphony.
The purpose of this ensemble is to help others—singers and listeners alike—experience choral music that resonates at a deeply human level. An ensemble of focused singers pursuing a high level of excellence can achieve this vision, thereby becoming a source of inspiration for the broader community.
N. B. DUE TO COVID 19 VOCES AUREAM IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDING ALL ACTIVITIES
A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:
The many hours I have spent singing and conducting polyphony and chant have been some of the most meaningful in my life and I believe this is achieved by approaching Renaissance Polyphony and Gregorian Chant as living and exciting repertoire combined with animated interpretation, intense vocal mindfulness, and inspiring acoustics.
Beyond the overall mission for the ensemble, any choir can provide a great way to spend time with others while engaging in meaningful work! I joined a boy choir at the age of 7, and over the years choirs have given me friendships, an education, spiritual nourishment, laughter, tears, exhilaration, and a deep sense of fulfillment.
Auditions are held in person by appointment in our rehearsal space (pictured above).
The audition process:
